Surface Cleaning and Pre-treatment

Laying a Solid Foundation for Quality

Surface cleaning and pre-treatment are the fundamental processes in machining surface treatment, like laying a solid foundation for parts. Through processes such as sand blasting, ultrasonic cleaning, and electroplating pretreatment, impurities like oxide skin, rust, oil stains, and burrs on the surface are thoroughly and precisely removed.

Sand Blasting / bead blasting

Sand blasting is the critical pre-treatment step that refines part surfaces for optimal downstream processing. High-velocity abrasive media removes oxide scale, rust, and machining burrs, while intentionally creating a uniform micro-roughness. This textured surface dramatically improves the mechanical interlocking of subsequent coatings or plating layers, preventing delamination and ensuring long-term adhesion.

Ultrasonic Cleaning

Ultrasonic cleaning delivers unparalleled surface purity, targeting contaminants that conventional cleaning methods cannot reach. High-frequency sound waves generate microscopic cavitation bubbles that penetrate blind holes, narrow gaps, and complex geometric features. This process thoroughly eliminates residual abrasive particles, oil residues, and dust, creating a chemically clean surface that is essential for consistent, high-quality electroplating results.

Electroplating

Electroplating is the finishing process that transforms pre-treated parts into high-performance components. Building on the clean, roughened surface from sand blasting and ultrasonic cleaning, a uniform metal layer is electrochemically deposited. This layer enhances corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and electrical conductivity, while also providing an aesthetically consistent finish. The rigorous pre-treatment ensures the plating adheres firmly, delivering reliable performance even in demanding industrial environments.

Surface Coating Technology

Endowing Multiple Functions

Surface coating technology is a key link in endowing parts with multiple functions. It realizes protection, beautification and performance upgrading by forming functional or decorative coatings on the surface. From electroplating processes such as galvanizing, chromium plating, nickel plating, and gold/silver plating, to coating processes like spray painting and electrophoretic coating, and then to thermal spraying processes including arc spraying and plasma spraying, various technologies precisely meet the needs of corrosion resistance, wear resistance, conductivity, high temperature resistance, etc., putting a “customized protective coat” on parts of different materials and expanding their application scenarios and service life.

Galvanizing

Zinc layer blocks moisture; regular corrosion solution (with color passivation).

Chromium Plating

Hard & glossy chromium: decorative for brightness, hard for wear resistance (molds/piston rods).

Nickel Plating

Corrosion-resistant & glossy; top pick for electronics/precision instruments (protection + beauty).

Gold/Silver Plating

High conductivity/oxidation resistance; for high-end contacts & luxurious decoration.

Spray Painting

Versatile, cost-effective, customizable colors for decorative & light protection.

Electrophoretic Coating

Uniform coverage for complex parts, high adhesion, excellent corrosion resistance.

Thermal Spraying

Thick, wear/heat-resistant coatings for heavy machinery repair & upgrade.

Arc & Plasma Sprayin

High-efficiency metal/ceramic coatings for aerospace & industrial tooling.

We Are Here To Solve Your Problem And Meet Your Needs

Our in-house factory and comprehensive supply chain network shorten production cycles. We adhere to texture standards to ensure high-quality surface finishes for plastic injection molding parts or metal components.

Tailored Surface Finishes

Our offers a wide selection of surface finishes to improve the surface qualities of CNC-machined parts. The surface finishes applied after machining can change the appearance, surface roughness, hardness, and chemical resistance of the produced parts.

Image
Name
Explanation
As machined (Ra 3.2μm / Ra 126μin)

This finishing option with the shortest turnaround time. Parts have visible tool marks and potentially sharp edges and burrs, which can be removed upon request.

Smooth machining (Ra 1.6μm / Ra 63μin)

Smooth machining is similar to a ‘As machined’ finish, but with less visible machine marks. Parts are machined at a lower feed rate, with no hand polishing.

Polishing (Ra 0.8μm / Ra 32μm)

Polishing is the process of creating a smooth and shiny surface by rubbing it or by applying a chemical treatment.

Bead Blasting

Machined parts are bead blasted with glass beads which results in a uniform grainy texture and reduced machining marks.

Vibratory finishing

A process that removes burrs, sharp edges, and machining marks from workpieces by tumbling them with vibrating media.

Bead blasted + Anodizing

Before anodizing, the parts are sandblasted with 120-grit sandpaper—an ideal method to improve the corrosion resistance and appearance of aluminum parts.

Black Oxide

Black oxide is a conversion coating that is used on steels to improve corrosion resistance and minimize light reflection.

Plating

Include Nickel Plating, Silver Plating, Gold Plating, Zinc Plating, Chrome Plating, Tin Plating and etc, it is ideal to reduce corrosion, improve the appearance and function of solderability and electrical conductivity.

DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) Coating

DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating is a hard, wear-resistant coating made of a carbon-rich material that exhibits some of the properties of diamonds.

Three Core Reasons to Choose Us

Your Surface Treatment Expert, Covering All Needs

01

We cover all surface treatment processes—from pre-treatment (sand blasting, pickling) to high-end modification (laser treatment, carburizing/nitriding). Tailored solutions for materials (steel, aluminum, etc.) and scenarios (corrosion resistance, wear resistance) meet diverse needs, no “one-size-fits-all.”

02

With refined control over key parameters (plating density, coating thickness), we ensure core indicators (adhesion, salt spray resistance, hardness) exceed industry standards. Proven results across bridge structures, engine blades, and electronics guarantee durable protection and stable performance.

03

The excellent structural properties of engineering-grade CNC machined plastics, including electrical insulation and strength-to-weight ratio, make them ideal for plastic machining. Thus, with plastic machining, machinists can use a wider range of materials for plastic fabrication, with popular ones including HDPE, ABS, Nylon, Acrylic, Delrin, PEEK, and so on.
